luzery:

the only thing that makes me nervous about the birth control debate from the women’s perspective (re: “Sluts Across America” and things like it) is that i feel like it could be construed as women going “BUT NO LOOK I HAVE A SUPER GOOD REASON FOR USING BIRTH CONTROL”

when in reality there is no such thing as a bad reason to be on birth control

like i don’t want it to seem like we’re giving more moral credence to women who use it for ‘other’ health purposes over women who use it because they like casual sex and don’t want a kid

because both of those are equally valid reasons, and really any reason that ANY woman has for being on birth control is A) a valid reason and B) none of your damn business to begin with

i think it’s equally wrong/damaging for women to have to prove why they “deserve” to be on birth control?

#i know that’s not the intent of this #but i feel like maybe acting like every woman needs to step forward and explain to the class #why she makes the choices that she makes for her body #is… wrong? UGH I DON’T KNOW ALL I KNOW IS THAT THERE’S SOMETHING UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT THIS

basically, yes
